Daniel 3:21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.

Some circumstances which overtake us in life are not because of wrong doing or our choices. Some are the result of plots and scheming by others. The situation in which these three young men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, found themselves was the result of their capture and exile in Babylon. The important thing is that they chose to hang on to their faith in Almighty God and trust him with their lives no matter what happened. They incurred the anger of the King when they refused to compromise and worship him or his golden statue. The fire was heated, they were under guard and then they were bound. Totally helpless!  Then they were thrown into the fire.

God honors faith. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6). Faith was their only weapon. And God came to their defense in a way which could not be denied as other than divine. He showed up in the fire!

“At times God himself rises and stands beside his children in their hour of trial. He comes to do the things which man in all their wisdom cannot accomplish. He is God over the fire, wind and storm.”
